CERRITOS VALLEY CHRISTIAN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WAS FOUNDED BY A CRC (Christian Reformed Church) PASTOR , the late REV. GARETH KOK in the 1930's, and remains part of the Reformed Christian tradition, originally part of the Dutch Reformed tradition, and originally mostly an "ethnic church" of Dutch-Americans. Today, many of the students still come from Dutch-American families with last names starting with "vander (this and that)" but it also incorporates persons of all ethnicities and skin colors, etc who profess Jesus Christ as Savior; and many of their students still go on to attend Calvin College (the CRC's main college) in Grand Rapids, MI. Sometimes the CRC mentions Bellflower CRC's (which is adjacent to Cerritos and the home of most of the southern California CRC's) in the Banner, even if they may favor the CRC's closer to home and Canada.
