prayer request
..One of my relatives, Nancy Peters, just died, and it's a long convoluted "soap opera" about my Peters family relatives...she was actually my "step grandma" (my real grandma died before I was born)...and there are lots of details about what happened when Nancy married my late grandfather Leo Peters, and she had kids of her own , hence the "Peters 2" family versus the "Peters 1" family...and my grandfather owned Butterball Farms in Grand Rapids MI and they sell butter to McDonalds Restaurants which made them very successful and financially well-to-do which is great but it also meant a lot of "money issues" with regards to family members and family feuds etc...and lots of it revolved around Nancy and her kids, (the Peters 2 kids), and now she just died in November 2016 and everybody is gathering for the funeral in west Michigan, and I am hoping & praying for a GIGANTIC PARADIGM SHIFT to reflect upon God's sense of justice and righteousness, not man's. And I have members of my family attending the funeral who were adversely affected by this long saga...I myself am not going...too far to travel for me at the moment..; but I am praying that my family members who are attending can help effectuate a NEW PARADIGM...this is a "window of opportunity" open only for a short while because of the death of Nancy, and so I ask ALL OF YOU who read this, IF YOU are Christian believers and persons of prayer to ADD YOUR PRAYERS to this hope for a new paradigm of TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS & JUSTICE...this will effect more than just my small family and more than just the Peters 2 but really it "trickles down" to all segments of society. . There were a lot of VERY SERIOUS GRIEVOUS ISSUES that happened over time [ a different kind of "terror" ] that need to be rectified and I am hoping and praying for this to happen now, God Willing, even though perhaps some hearts are too hardened. Thanks !

RIP re my STEP-GRANDMA "Nancy Peters Obituary" (2nd wife of Butterball Farms Founder, the late Leo Peters)

SHE was my grandfather Leo Peters 2nd wife, so not really my grandma, but sort of, albeit she never really had any affection for us as our real grandma normally would have (had she lived long enough)...; nonetheless we had a few nice times with her at the cottage & a few other holiday events,
...as a Christian my main concern is for the repose of her soul...I know she was involved with the church but I don't know how much she grew as a Christian in terms of love for others, or love for the kids & grandkids from the 1st family (ie Peters I family) . But I don't want to rehash all that crazy stuff that I've tried to forget about...

wow, our old missionary friend had a HUGE family [2011,RIP] "Verna Boeve, 89"[mother of Joe] - Holland Sentinel - Holland, MI
just came across this obituary for the mother of Joe Boeve, who I met during a philippines summer mission with my denomination, the Christian Reformed Church [CRC]. Joe was our leader for most of the summer in the Philippines, and came up with various skits & other evangelical presentations for us to do in front of large Filipino crowds in various places on several islands around the Filipines. I call him a "friend" albeit he was enigmatic in character...seemed to be negatively judgmental of me, not sure why.
I was still fairly young at the time [1992, i was only 25-yo, albeit maybe seemed "old" to some of the 20-year olds]. After the mission, I went off on my own to Hong Kong & China, which seemed to annoy Joe, who apparently thought I should fly home with the rest of the group.
I don't think he realized that I had been traveling worldwide already on my own for several years, including school in hawaii, teaching and mission work in costa rica, semester in spain/England, among other things. He seemed to need to narrate us all to be naive young college kids and him the wise elder. Even more strange, after I returned to the USA, I was in california and received a call from him.
He had flown all the way from the Philippines for a pastor's conference at the Crystal Cathedral. Seemed like he did it intentionally, knowing my dad worked there at the time as a pastor, ...so he calls me on the phone and asks me if I want to go to a movie.
A movie, with him? I didn't get it. But I felt compelled to be nice to him (ie to "respect my elders") , and so I said yes. But it got even more wierd in the middle of the movie, a secular "coming-of-age" film [ can't remember the name of it]...anyways, he said some strange things in the middle of the movie..; after the movie I dropped him off at the hotel, and have never seen him again, although he emailed me once. Whatever the case may be, he and his wife Kate and their son Mack et al are in my prayers...

She is survived by her children, Kathy and Ron Sikkema of Rochester, MN, Mike and Lois Boeve of Holland, Jane Boeve of Adrian, Ruth Haverdink of Zeeland, Dona and Jerry Schmidt of Holland and Boyne City, Tim Boeve of Sonoma, CA, Joe Boeve of Holland; daughter-in-law, Kate Boeve, Bob and Sally Boeve of Traverse City and Jeff and Jane Boeve of Grand Haven; as well as 34 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ruisard;..."

4/8/16 REMEMBERING PHIL TEMPLEMAN (bellflower, bethany crc, valley Christian, et al)
...when our family moved to california from michigan in 1984 i was a senior in high school ...actually it was the summer between my junior and senior year. I started practicing with the valley Christian football team planning on staying for my senior year. We also started attending Bethany CRC where my grandfather was a retired pastor (he came to bellflower in 1936 and co-founded Valley Christian Schools and pastored 1st CRC in bellflower...later returned and retired in bellflower). The templeman family was very nice to me and their son Kirk was my same age and also played football. At the time, their dad owned a radiator repair service on firestone ave in downey ( advanced radiator if i recall correctly) .
They invited me to work for them, along with Kirk and Phil (& I think Jim Tanis worked there too for a while) to make a few bucks and something to do to get to know the local community. I became friends with Kirk that summer and went to a few events with him and a few other valley Christian kids.
It was a great time, great experience, but I was lonely for my friends back in Grand Rapids and decided to finish my high school career back in Michigan ...where I lived with a friend and then a relative for a year. I didn't really return to california for long-term until much later in life...but my dad stays in touch with the local valley and bethany crc community and is in touch with the templemans. I didn't see this email until a month after this funeral. Condolences to the Templemans. Thoughts & prayers to you. & thanks for the kindness during the summer of '84.

4/9/16 PRAYER REQUEST FROM CRC MISSIONARY IN NIGERIA: " THIS weekend, for these kids (f.3)"
Please pray for the teachers of these kids --THIS weekend.
Simply put, bits of ERROR and NEGLIGENCE by 2 institutions are making introductory training POSSIBLE for 25 teachers of 2 Nigerian Christian schools.
The same boo-boo's are also IN THE WAY OF confirming that training –hopefully to occur next week.
Please pray for these snarled strands to be untangled and braided into a sure ladder for over 100 other Nigerian schools to access teacher training.
ALSO, give thanks with us and all of central Nigeria. Seasonal rains have begun, after 5 months of none. YEA!!

keeping in thoughts and prayers PHIL TANIS who i knew very briefly from his family in bellflower and attendance at bethany CRC ...his brother Jim went to Calvin..i knew him a little better than Phil...and now Phil is working for this organization (world communion of reformed churches, wcrc, also see http://new.wcrc.eu.server3.reformiert-info.de/ ) ...my impression of Phil was that he is a VERY SERIOUS person..which is good in many regards, but sometimes comes off as "more important" than others around him..; so we all have things to work on, and need grace to grow in Christ and become a better "aroma" for the Good News...; let us pray for Phil to continue to grow and show genuine love and affection for those around him.. email thoughts, prayers, & encouragement to Phil at

this video Reminds me of driving cross country w the wolf girls one Christmas in the 80's
I WAS WATCHING this video on display at the hammer museum ( which I do NOT endorse in general;...it is too liberal & anti-Christian)...but this video was interesting...a flashback to the 70's...reminded me of one Christmas when I was a student at calvin college and I agreed to drive a car from michigan to california for a lady who neede dher car delivered. They pay for the gas and we deliver the car. CHeap way to get back to calilfornia. And two gals I knew just from seeing them around the college found out I was going and they lived in the same area as me in california...so they asked if they could come along. I said sure...they were sisters by the way.. and we drove in this old 70's car with a bumper sticker that said "foxy grandma on board" ...and in Nebraska I got stopped for speeding...going about 70 or 80 in a 60 (before it was changed to 65)...kind of funny moment..and then we stayed at a hotel one night...shared a room and one of the gals felt she needed to warn me to stay on "my side of the room" ...as if I was a danger to them (that was really rude of her; in fact their dad was a pastor for the same denomination as my dad...and they treated me as if I was a danger to them? Why did they want to drive with me? And then finally we were going thru Arizona and I said "do you want to see teh grand canyon" and they had to call their dad and ask him if they could (they had never been there before...they were missionary kids from argentina...they only came to the usa around the time they started college...; their dad said OF COURSE..but these gals were so timid...strange considering they were missionary kids.

1 PROBLEM w/ this GOOD CRC ARTICLE: "The Courage to Leave | The Network
Do u notice it is exclusively about women being abused by men? Fact is,women can be emotionally (& even sometimes physically) abusive of men too! [Or men can be abusive towards other men (or boys). (By the way, I think hugh halford was/is a member of the gay community and in the gay community there is even more of that dominance/submissive aspect. Don't get me wrong. I'm not gay,so I don't normally experience such behavior,but because of the civil litigation I commenced,I was forced to interact with hugh halford,despite asking the judge to order a new attorney for the city (which he declined,even aftet the big crime by halford against me) ]Even more so nowadays because the man is always suspected first,thus the woman can take advantage of always having the benefit of the doubt.[in the case of halford,he was very two-faced,an actor of the most nefarious sort,who put on one face for one context & another for a different context...he could quickly change his countenance,tone,demeanor,etc. It was sickeningly duplicitous.
