I still can't figure out why my pastor, Morris Greidanus, at 1st CRC in Grand Rapids didn't sign my profession of faith certificate. I actually didn't notice it at the time. It was several years later that I noticed it. Actually, I think my dad noticed it, and commented about it. So I sent it back to him from California and asked for him to sign it. He was still the pastor at 1st CRC at the time, and his dad was a professor at calvin seminary. HE signed it and sent it back. He didn't include a note of apology or anything. I was suspicious that he purposely didn't sign it. I had a sense that neither he nor his professor dad liked or approved of me, and didn't really want to perform my profession-of-faith ceremony. But I truly believed and wanted to make public profession of faith. I think it was my sophomore year of college. It's too bad if they have negative thoughts toward me. That's a sign of being "in the flesh" . I hope they are not in the flesh. We must not think of ourselves as superior to others. And pastors should try to nurture others in the faith. Of course I was still an immature Christian at the time. I still had a lot of room for growth & maturity, and still do. But I assume so does he. Let us all remember to take the log out of our own eye first !
